Act 1 Productions presents "Murder by Shoo-Fly Pie" New in 2013.
The judge of a pie contest being held on the dining cars at the Strasburg Rail Road has been murdered, tossed from his seat, hoisted with his own fork! The weapon of choice -- Shoo-Fly Pie?
A contest for our guests has become vicious. Three of our guests signed up, and one used the chance to commit murder. Follow our crazy serving staff of four as they try to figure out "who dun the dastardly forking!"
By the way, make sure you try the Shoo-Fly Pie on the dessert tray. It's to die for! Reservations required.
Pan-Pacific Festival 2013
The Pan-Pacific Festival opens with the Ho'olaule'a block party and closes with the Parade on Kalakaua Avenue. A section of Waikiki Beach near the Duke Kahanamoku statue, under a majestic banyan tree, is the location of an outdoor stage and many hula concerts and performances. Both the Royal Hawaiian Center in the heart of Waikiki and the Ala Moana Center, are locations of the Performing Arts Showcases.
Big Apple Barbecue Block Party
The Big Apple Barbecue Block Party takes place one weekend each June in Madison Square Park and surrounding streets, attracting people from near and far to celebrate America's authentic culinary and musical traditions. Event admission is free, with award-winning barbecue and Southern-inspired fare from the country's top pitmasters available for $9/plate. Live performances from emerging and established rock, blues, and soul artists take place onstage throughout the day, and some of the country's most innovative chefs share insights and cooking tips in the Seminar Tent.
Woofstock 2013
What else can you call 300,000 dog lovers and their four-footed friends coming together each year for this wildly popular doggie love-in! Woofstock is the largest outdoor festival for dogs in all of North America. One year it was beamed around the world on CNN for the entire weekend. This festival allows people to celebrate their dogs with a number of unique events such as: Doggie Diamond Jubilee High Tea, Woofstock Fashion Show, Stupid Dog Trick Contest, Mr. and Ms. Canine Canada Pageant, Best Costume Contest, and Rescue Me Walk-a-thon.
American Crafts Festival
Enjoy 380 Juried craft displays selected from every region of the United States, along with continuous entertainment and craft demonstrations. There's ample parking at an indoor garage and free admission. This event is outdoors and will take place rain or shine, at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan.
Maui Film Festival
Fourteen years ago, Maui Film Festival creator and director Barry Rivers connected the dots between the glimmering stars in the sky and the human beings also known as "stars," whose faces would fill that big screen. He envisioned a festival with a resident astronomer, along with A-list filmmakers to honor each year. Studio hits, indie favorites, shorts, and documentaries are part of the mix. Surfing odysseys and music concerts are staples in what has been described as "a jewel box festival," as though its assortment of films were a collection of sparkling gems.
Along with the films, the star tributes, and filmmaker panels, the five-day festival is about having a good time, Wailea-style. Aloha wear is the dress code at culinary feasts and star-studded parties that take place throughout the resort.
At night moviegoers watch eclectic films on Wailea Beach; by day, the projection tent turns into the Seaside Cinema Lounge, a popular gathering place to talk story with visiting film artists.
TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival
A world-class lineup of artists is set to perform at the 2013 TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival. From June 13th to 23rd, downtown Winnipeg will come alive with music performed by the best local, national, and international artists. Headliners George Benson, New Orleans legends Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and soul diva Bettye LaVette are among the nearly 100 performers announced today.
34th Annual Quechee Hot Air Balloon Craft and Music Festival
The longest continuously running Hot Air Balloon Festival in New England is returning to its traditional location on the Quechee Village Green this year. The festival has been chosen by Yankee Magazine as one of the top 20 events of summer. It features over 20 hot air balloons, with flights weather and wind permitting. Balloon rides are now available to purchase prior to the event. Don't miss this exciting event featuring continuous music and entertainment for all ages, and over 60 craft artisans and commercial vendors. Children's activities include train rides, a bounce house, and more. And of course there will be festival food, a beer and wine garden, and more surprises!

TD Toronto Jazz Festival
The TD Toronto Jazz Festival has become known as one of North America's premier jazz festivals produced annually by Toronto Downtown Jazz. Windscape Kite Festival
The 2013 SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival will once again welcome many celebrity kite flyers, both veterans from previous festivals and newcomers.
Much more than just kites, though, the festival will also feature many of the favorite activities that kids love, including a juggling tent. Children will have to opportunity to learn to juggle, spin plates, and balance peacock feathers. Kids will also be able to get their faces painted by talented face painters. They can play in the mystery sandpile, play with bubbles, and splatter paint on a mural. There is sure to be activities to keep your children occupied and having fun for the whole day.
Entertainers -- including Gustavo The Impossibilist, a hilarious entertainer for all ages -- are one of a kind. There will also be stilt walkers on the festival site, to leave you in awe.
Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival
The 25th Tim Hortons Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival promises a two-day fun-filled event that brings sports, team spirit, and community spirit to Toronto Centre Island on June 22 and 23, 2013. From the humble beginning of only 27 teams participating in the first festival back in 1989, the Festival has evolved to a much bigger operation over the past two decades.
Organized by the Toronto Chinese Business Association and Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival, the Festival in 2013 will once again host 180 to 200 teams with over 5,000 athletes. In 2013, as the Festival celebrates its 25th year, it promises to continue to be one of the most exciting summer events in Toronto. Once again this year, the Festival will welcome teams from all provinces across Canada, from the U.S., the Caribbean Islands, Europe, and Asia.
Pembrokeshire Fish Week
If you like great fresh fish and shellfish, to eat and to cook - you're in for a treat! Named as Number 1 of the top 10 food festivals in the UK by Visit Britain, the festival is a previous winner of True Taste Food Tourism Destination and Pembrokeshire Tourisms premier event in 2009/10, it hosts over 200 family friendly events and activities around the counties coast and inland waterways.
MidSummer Night Swing 2013
Lincoln Center's Damrosch Park turns into one big open-air ballroom. Whether you're a seasoned dance-floor devotee or a complete newbie, Midsummer Night Swing has moves to show you, from Disco to vintage Swing, from Salsa and Calypso to Golden-Age Jazz. After you work up an appetite on the dance floor, stop by the Street Food BBQ stand for tasty snacks and meals designed for eating with your hands. Drinks are also available for consumption within Damrosch Park.
Glastonbury Festival
Glastonbury is a festival of contemporary performing arts over more than 100 stages. The festival, held over three or four days in the open air, with performers, crew, and paying festival goers staying in tents, caravans, and motor homes, has meant that the weather is significant. It is now attended by around 150,000 people requiring extensive infrastructure in terms of security, transport, water, and electricity supply. The majority of staff are volunteers, helping the festival to raise millions of pounds for good causes.
6th Annual Bug Eating Festival
Bring the kids! Bring yourself! But leave everything you've been taught about good table manners at home. Entomophogy -- the worldwide practice of eating insects (and spiders).
Marjory Wildcraft, Alan Davisson, and Robert Allen will again be teaming up to create an amazing evening that you and your kids will remember for the rest of your lives. If you have a camera, bring it! Indulge in tasty treats of grasshoppers, crickets, spiders, katydids, bees, wasps, wormy things, and if you're lucky, a scorpion or two.
This will be a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bugs to share) party so start catching them early so we have lots! They can be stored in a bag in the freezer until the festival, but get an early start so we have a swarm.
This will also be a 'normal' potluck so bring a dish of ordinary food to share. Bring a dish large enough to feed 8 hungry people.
The Maine Home+Design Show
The Maine Home+Design Show will bring the pages of Maine Home+Design magazine to life in a specially constructed 30,000 square foot clear span semi-permanent structure located in Rockport -- a cohesive exhibition experience. The show features more than 150 exhibitors, the AIA Pavilion, and a pop-up gallery of works from Art Collector Maine. Join us from June 29-30 for an experience like no other, and feel as though you're walking into a living version of the magazine.

Roswell UFO Festival 2013
The City of Roswell invites UFO enthusiasts and skeptics alike to join in the celebration of one of the most debated incidents in history. The three-day event will feature guest speakers, authors, live entertainment, a costume contest, a pet costume contest, parade, Alien Chase, UFO Art Show, family-friendly activities, and more. Although the UFO Festival is scheduled for July 5-7, 2013, plan to stay the whole week from June 28 through the Festival because Roswell has a lot going on that week including Fourth of July Festivities. TD Halifax Jazz Festival (formerly the Atlantic Jazz Festival) is the oldest jazz festival and largest summer festival in the Atlantic region. Islendingadagurinn Icelandic Festival of Manitoba
The Icelandic Festival of Manitoba "Islendingadagurinn" may be the second oldest continuous ethnic festival in North America. The first Icelandic festival in North America was held in Milwaukee in 1874. The first Icelandic festival in Manitoba was held in Winnipeg in 1890; was held there annually until 1931, and since 1932 has been held in Gimli.
Events include a Viking Encampment on Harbour Park Hill, Wondershows Midway and Rides in Gimli Park, Pancake Breakfast at New Horizons Center, a Sandcastle Contest, Fara Heim: A voyage of Discovery at the New Iceland Heritage Museum, Children's Entertainment, Viking Warfare Tactics and Demonstration, and more.
Tampere Theatre Festival
Tampere Theatre Festival takes place around the city of Tampere at over 20 venues, displaying the finest Finnish and international productions. The festival consists of five entities: Main Programme, offering the most interesting productions from around the world; OFF Tampere fringe festival, a multifaceted program providing a stage for anyone; Programme Tent, a club style arena with different styles of performing arts; Club Festival Encorebaana, improvisational theatre, stand-up shows, and music with restaurant surroundings; and Great Nocturnal Happening over the whole city. Traditionally the best Finnish short films will be awarded in the professional filmmakers' and film student's categories as well as in the category of contemporary films. The Helsinki Short Film Festival will bring new screenings, happenings, discussion, clubs, and buzz around short films and some interesting topics.
